Most of you should have played Xenon 2: Megablast before. If Xenon 2 is that good, how come there is no Xenon 1? This question hang in my mind for quite some time, until I finally get a copy of Xenon a few years later.
Xenon was developed by Bitmap Brother as well, but the quality is far from Xenon 2. The DOS version seems to be very unpolished too. Xenon support only 16-color EGA mode, so graphics wise we cannot expect that much.
In Xenon, the spaceship that we control can operate in two mode: land and sky. The control is a bit awkward though, we move the ship using Q, A, O and P. To change mode, we press Z. Space bar for fire remain the same.
Xenon is very hard to play indeed. It is quite impossible for us to go through the level undamaged. There are some specialities that we can collect after destroying the gun platform to assist us.
There are bosses at the end of each level. Again, quite difficult to overcome them.
You can get Xenon here.
