Cannon Fodder was released by Virgin Interactive in 1994. It is a top-down shooter, but we do not control with keyboard, we control with mouse instead. The control is very simple, left click to move the heroes, right click to fire gun, right + left click to use special weapon.
To give you some information, Cannon Fodder is an informal term for military personnel who are regarded as expandable. Therefore in Cannon Fodder, we use a small team of 2 to 8 people to kill all enemies (sometimes more than 100 in one mission) and destroy all enemies' buildings.
The rate of our success will be reflected on the home screen Home : Away ratio. Home means the number of enemies that have been killed and away means number of our soldiers that have been killed. We have 360 soldiers to expand through out the game 72 levels.
Cannon Fodder is a funny and humorous game. There are a lot of weapon that we can use in the game, including bazooka, grenade, jeep, skidoo, tank and helicopter.
The first few levels is as easy as drinking water, but the difficulty quickly build up in the subsequent levels. Like Lemmings, in some level, we need to try many times before we can solve the puzzles and complete the level.
The heroes in Cannon Fodder can upgrade after completing a mission. The higher the rank they go, the faster and the longer they can shoot the enemies.
Cannon Fodder mission objective is always simple, either kill all enemies or kill all enemies' buildings. There is no storyline that link from level to level, and the background varies from jungle, iceland, canyon to enemy base.
In conclusion, Cannon Fodder is a fun game to play, and a refreshing one. You can get your copy here.
