I always wonder why Legend (a.k.a Four Crystals of Trazere) did not receive good responce when it was release in 1990s. It's good to realize that Legend soon gather enough fans and become a cult classic. If you have not enough Legend, Son of the Empire can be considered as the sequel to it.
Empire has been released as a stand-alone expansion, but it is actually a brand new game. The Berserker, the Assassin, the Troubadour and the Runemaster once again start their new quest in an Eastern land.
The story begin when a messenger bring the news of the murder of Assassin's father, the Emperor. We immediately ride east to the Imperial castle and meet Aunt Sushiana. She informs us that the murderer is hiding in the vaults beneath the palace and we have to dig him out.
The interface and game play system remain the same with Legend. The magic system also remains the same. So if you have been playing Legend for some time, picking up Empire will be simple.
As soon as we finish the first mission, we will quickly learn that Empire is bigger and larger than Legend. We have to travel to a lot of places to gather four shards of an amulet and defeat the warlords.
Like Legend, when traveling in the world, we will meet a lot of enemies. Even the story happen in an Eastern world, the enemies remain the same. We still see a lot of enemies that brought from Legend.
In conclusion, Empire is as good as Legend, and if you have fun playing Legend, you should not miss Empire.
