Elvira 2: The Jaws of Cerberus was released by Accolade in 1992. It is the second in the series, and the interface and gameplay have been greatly improved. Besides better VGA graphics, the soundtracks were improved to provide more atmospheric feel.
In Elvira 2, we play Elvira's boyfriend, whose mission is to save Elvira. Elvira was captured by the demon Cerberus who wants to use her magical power for his own aims.
We need to seek Elvira in a horror movie studio where the props and movie sets have turned into actual monstrosities, apparently as a result of building the studio on haunted grounds.
There are four areas in the studio: the main studio building, Studio 1, Studio 2 and Studio 3. Studio 1 is a catacomb, and the gameplay is very similar to other dungeon crawling game like Eye of the Beholder. Mind you, the monsters in the catacomb are huge and most of them is very difficult to be killed.
Studio 2 is a haunted house, and the gameplay in Studio 2 has more adventure elements, focusing mainly on collecting useful items and problem-solving. Prepare to face a number of surprises and shocks in Studio 2.
Studio 3 is another catacomb like Studio 1, but with fiercer monsters. To be able to overcome Studio 3, we should have go through Studio 1 and Studio 2 to gain enough experience points and upgrade our level first.
The final battleground is in the main studio it selves. Overall, Elvira 2 is an extremely hard game. The catacomb is also very easy to get lost inside, therefore manual mapping is a must.
