Police Quest: In Pursuit of the Death Angel VGA remake was released in 1992. It uses the upgraded point-and-click interface same as other Sierra releases in 1992 like King's Quest V.
The VGA remake of Police Quest is basically the same, except certain parts have been simplified to suit the point-and-click interface. The most obvious difference is when we are in driving mode. We no longer need to drive the car using arrow keys, instead, we click on the on screen button to perform the action.
In Police Quest, we play Sonny Bonds, a rookie police officer in the fictional town of Lytton, California. Assigned to traffic duty, Sonny investigates what appears to be a simple car crash but turns out to be a homicide.
As the game progresses, Sonny goes from patrol to temporary narcotics detective and finally undercover, tracking "The Death Angel", a murderous drug dealer named Jessie Bains. Sonny is assisted by "Sweet Cheeks" Marie, his former high school sweetheart who is now working as a prostitute.
As Police Quest is designed by an ex-policeman, it is the most realistic of those developed by Sierra in the late 1980s. It featured many puzzles where proper police procedure is required to succeed.
If you like adventure games, you should not miss VGA remake of Police Quest. The nice graphics combined with new soundtracks never seems to get outdated even until today.
